The Magician is the first spark of consciousness, the moment when a thought stops being merely a feeling and becomes a word, an action, a creation. He commands all four elements — the wand of fire, the cup of water, the sword of air, and the disk of earth — and is therefore able to bring any idea into matter. This card is about the beginning of a new endeavor, a new role, a new stage of life, where you are no longer the victim of circumstance but the conscious creator of your own thoughts and deeds. The Magician's power is neutral: it can serve good just as easily as it can serve harm, and only the person's own choice decides what kind of magician he becomes.
